Thanks so much for your interest in our merchandise! We at Pristino Jewelry specialize in quality easy wear jewelry. We use only precious metals and, with rare exceptions, natural gemstones. Our gemstones are high quality. Most pieces are one of a kind.
Our love for gemstones began years ago. It started with an andalusite pendant we found in an antique store. It was not like anything we had seen before! From then on, we were looking for unusual, hard to find gemstones. Looking in department and jewelry stores, and large online retailers, we had no luck. However, we did find loose stones and started collecting. Over a period of years, we collected a huge amount of gemstones. During the same time, we found that while we found a lot of jewelry we liked, we were wearing the same few pieces on a daily basis. The reason? The pieces we were wearing every day were easy to wear, simple and classic, that prominently displayed the gemstones. Over time, we found ourselves wishing we had certain stones set in certain settings, but we could not find them in the market. So we decided to make them ourselves. That brings us to where we are today, desiring to introduce and make available those hard to find gemstones in settings you will want to wear every day, not just on special occasions.
All colored gemstones are more rare than diamonds, even if you only consider the diamonds of adequate quality for setting into jewelry. Gemstones are a commodity, whose price varies somewhat due to supply and demand. The value of diamonds are cartel controlled, which is why they are more expensive even though the supply is there. Tanzanites may soon become the first cartel controlled colored gemstone. We do sell some gemstones that you see in mass manufactured jewelry, such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires, topaz, amethyst, citrine, garnet and aquamarine. However, we usually look for good quality and/or specialty cut stones. But we also use many stones you will not see commonly in the market place such as andalusite, beryl, amblygonite, fluorite, sphalerite, moldavite, larimar, tourmaline, chrome diopside, sphene, sillimanite, sunstone, labradorite, zircon, spinel, kyanite, and unusual opals, to name just a few. These are all wonderful, natural gemstones that are not commonly found in quantity for mass manufactured jewelry. We also offer stones with specialty cuts that have huge optical impact.
We use handpicked gemstones and settings purchased from reliable sources. Most stones are purchased as single stones or in small parcels. We look high and low to bring you gemstones that you generally will not see in department stores or in mass manufactured jewelry. We provide all information known about each gemstone including location mined, location cut, carat weight, dimensions, treatment and care. We are constantly looking for exotic stones and spectacular cuts. We use natural gemstones and precious metals almost exclusively. We try to set the gemstones in settings that best showcase the gemstone itself. For us, the gemstone is the star of the show! Most of our pieces are one of a kind, at most, we may make as many as a half dozen of a piece. For us, the name of the game is quality, not quantity. The piece you purchase will be truly unique.
We have long been in love with gemstones ourselves, and searching for new, unique, hard to find stones to set into our jewelry. We hope as you browse our selection, you interest in gemstones will grow as ours has!
